Katie and Charlie planned a big, beautiful wedding at The Buccaneer with lots of friends and family in attendance. All of the details were planned with loving care with the expert help of Erin Procter, one of The Buccaneer’s talented wedding coordinators. However, the one detail no one can control is the weather. We were lucky enough to get the ceremony and group shots completed before the rain fell. But once I started working with Katie and Charlie, the sky opened up and our session was cut short. We still got some amazing shots! In fact, I think less than ideal weather can make for very dramatic photos.
As a destination wedding photographer, I have the opportunity to shoot a variety of weddings in all shapes and sizes. Katie and Charlie’s wedding had a very youthful exuberance with guests from their college days including Katie’s sorority sisters and their significant others. Their guests came ready to party and had a great time.
Katie and Charlie opted for a live band instead of a DJ. The variety of instruments and vibe of the musicians added a liveliness and spirit that you don’t always get with a DJ. Charlie was very friendly, but a little on the quiet side … that is until he hit the dance floor. His moves were truly awesome to witness. I don’t think I’ve ever met a man from Alabama who didn’t know how to dance – and Charlie was no exception.
I look forward to Katie and Charlie’s return trip to the island next year so we can make some new memories – hopefully with more cooperative weather.
