This shoot was extra special for me for many reasons. I have known Mike for almost 10 years and this is the first time I got him in front of my lens! As colleagues, we have worked on several projects for both photo and video over the years. On a recent trip home he told me about a very elaborate Valentines Day scavenger hunt he was planning for his lady, Kelly. As a filmmaker his plan was to document the entire day using a collection of Go-pros and other cameras. I had to jump in on this! It sounded so cool! Luckily he was all for it. As we discussed where the photo shoot would fit into the plan, I suggested we shoot at the Labyrinth in Mt. Washington. This place is truly magical. At this point, he knew he wanted to cater to Kelly’s love of the outdoors with a hike to the Ham’s Bluff Light House and a Horse back ride on the beach. Mike had never been to the Labyrinth, but after checking it out he was fully on board. The beauty of the ruins and trees fell in line with his theme. We finally decided to shoot first thing in the morning while everyone was fresh and the light was crisp.
On the morning of the shoot Kelly was so surprised. She had no idea what the day would unfold. When Kelly stepped out of the car I was blown away by her beauty and chic, vintage styling. For having no idea what she would be doing, both she and Mike were dressed perfectly. Due to the day Mike had planned for Kelly we had a strict time budget. However, if you know anything about me, I face challenges head on. We had so much fun in the 40min we spent together. Mike and Kelly’s chemistry was electric, which only inspired me more and more. I am so grateful that I had this opportunity to work with my friend and colleague on such a delightfully romantic project. Major kudos to Mike for pulling everything off! Finally, many thanks to Kelly who’s sweet spirt and wonderful attitude are only exceeded by her stunning beauty.
